The department focuses on “the development of innovative product design” and “the technology development of animation and game industries,” which are described as follows.
In terms of “the development of innovative product design,” as discussed between the product design teachers and the stationed partners, the teachers are divided into product innovation design teachers and product design development teachers. Moreover, the product design laboratory and the product development laboratory are established to develop relative technologies and conduct academic-industry cooperation and technology transfer matters with the industry.
In terms of “the technology development of animation and game industries,” as discussed between the game design teachers and the stationed partners, the teachers are divided into game graphics design teachers and game program design teachers. Moreover, the game design laboratory and the game testing laboratory are established to develop relative technologies and conduct cooperation matters with the industry.
In order to implement and conduct the development ideas planned by the department, the department has planned courses oriented by product design and game design. The teaching content includes the basics, such as design sketch, model making, basic 3D design, advanced 3D design, and 2D and 3D game production. Then, for innovative product design, the teaching content includes product design development practice and product design and analysis; For animation and game design, the teaching content includes game character and scene design and game effect post-production. With the step-by-step teaching content, the department trains the design and development experts that have innovative, practical design, and development abilities.
By introducing the academic-industry practice experiences into the teaching and training and integrating the Technology Research Center for Rapid Development of Precision Products in product design and key equipment development, students are allowed to learn game graphics, multimedia animation, game production, electronic product design and development, and innovative industrial product design and development skills through the computer courses and become innovative development experts in the game or electronic industry.
